I prefer to meet prior to the function, although sometimes this is not possible, I am happy to liaise via email, over the phone or via Skype, especially closer to the day.
For Weddings, I prefer to work primarily with the Master of Ceremonies, as this allows for the smooth running of events, from speeches, to dinner, to cutting the cake, throwing the garter and the first dance.
On confirmation of the deposit and thereby the day, I send out my Planner PDF, which asks for details such as specific music, names of the relevant people, timelines etc. This I believe is a crucial part of ensuring every detail is noted and thought about, prior to the day.
Preparing your DJ is crucial. Here are a few details that I like to discuss prior to the day, and have documented:
- Timelines - this will determine what time I need to arrive.
- MC/Function Co-ordinator details.
- First Guests arrival.
- Specific Music choices and announcements.
- General music genres to play – Although I have an extensive collection, and know the best music to play, I like to get a sense of what specific genres or bands/groups you and your guests would like to hear.
